Schaffer Construction - Designs for Life is a Loudoun County based Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) specializing in providing aging in place modifications for our seniors and special needs remodeling services for people with disabilities.
We're a Registered builder with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for the Specially Adaptive Housing (SAH) {2101 (a)} Grant program.
Medicaid Provider for non medical waivers.
We work with medical professionals and family members to ensure modifications are person specific.
We install and service Harmar Pinnacle stair lifts, Highlander vertical platform lifts for wheelchairs, modular and custom ramps, grab bars, hand rails, wheelchair accessible bathroom and showers, widen doorways, and build accessible additions incorporating elements of universal design in all of our solutions.
We provide informational seminars at Rehabilitation facilities and Physical & Occupational Therapists' offices educating service providers on the home modification process incorporating safety and access modifications. We discuss modification timelines, price ranges, and equipment options available for special needs.

Universal Design
What makes a home "universal"? Everyone can use universal design! It doesn't matter if you are young or old. You could be short or tall, healthy or ill. You might have a disability. Or you may be a prize-winning athlete.
Because of universal design, people who are very different can all enjoy the same home. And that home will be there for all its inhabitants even when their needs change.
