Aging-in-place
Schaffer Construction - Designs for Life is a Loudoun County based Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) specializing in providing aging in place modifications for our seniors and special needs remodeling services for people with disabilities.
We're a Registered builder with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for the Specially Adaptive Housing (SAH) {2101 (a)} Grant program.
The CAPS designation was developed by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelers Council, in collaboration with the AARP and NAHB Seniors Housing Council to provide comprehensive, practical, market-specific information about working with older and maturing adults to remodel their homes for aging-in-place.
The CAPS program goes beyond design to address the codes and standards, common remodeling projects and their costs, product ideas and resources needed to provide comprehensive and practical aging-in-place solutions.
As a CAPS Specialist we have been trained in:
- Meeting the unique needs of our parents and friends with disabilities.
- Installing home modifications that help people to continue living independently in their homes.
- Modifying common remodeling projects planning for future accessibility and safety.
- Implementing changes to common barriers.
- As CAPS professionals, we have been taught the strategies and techniques to design and build esthetically pleasing, barrier-free living environments.
